From scattered paperwork to a single source of fleet truth
Before adopting FleetCheck, J O'Shea & Sons were running paper-based systems and juggling multiple disconnected systems for vehicle compliance, licence checking, and tacho analysis. Kieran O’Shea’s inbox was constantly flooded with alarms from multiple platforms, and he had always had a cupboard full of “greasy defect sheets”. By adopting FleetCheck, J O'Shea & Sons have centralised everything into one integrated system, saving Kieran and his fitters a combined 4 hours every week, and giving the business full confidence in their compliance and due diligence.
About J O’Shea & Sons
It’s just a no-brainer. FleetCheck makes life easier for any transport manager. The platform has been a ‘golden goose’ for our business.

J O'Shea & Sons is a family-owned tipper truck and aggregate recycling company based in Manchester. With a diverse, heavy-duty fleet and strict compliance obligations (including FORS and CLOCS accreditations) they needed a fleet management solution that could bring everything together under one roof.
Why FleetCheck?
Kieran came across FleetCheck while searching for a system that could consolidate his fleet operations. As a FORS-accredited business, one thing stood out: FleetCheck was the only FORS-approved fleet management system on the market. This prompted a demo.
Seeing the FleetCheck Driver App was what made Kieran sure. With drivers already equipped with tablets or smartphones in the cab, getting up and running was simple, and it was immediately clear FleetCheck could deliver the connectively Kieran had been looking for.
I used to have multiple systems for different aspects of my fleet. FleetCheck has centralised everything – no logging out or logging back in – so everything is right there in front of me.
The challenge
Mountains of paperwork and disconnected systems
Paper processes
Kieran was dealing with a cupboard full of folders, from defect sheets to PMI records, all handled manually. Defect sheets would arrive back from drivers covered in grease and muck and required constant back-and-forth between the office and the garage.
Time-consuming compliance
Processing infringement notices meant printing, distributing, and manually chasing driver acknowledgements, and maintaining FORS and CLOCS accreditations meant compiling and submitting evidence by hand.
No central view
With separate platforms for vehicle compliance, driver licence checking, and tacho analysis, there was no single source of truth – just multiple logins and invoices, and an inbox overflowing with alerts.

Before FleetCheck, life was looking at a cupboard full of folders and mountains of paperwork. Our daily defect sheets would get handed to us covered in grease and muck. As the Transport Manager, I’d be back and forward from the office to the garage.

Managing our vehicles, drivers, and assets was very labour intensive and admin heavy. Before FleetCheck we had 25,000 different spreadsheets for everything, forms all over the place, and check sheets on 25 different platforms. It was too much.
The solution
Everything at one click of a button
What makes J O’Shea & Sons set up stand out is the sheer breadth of what they’ve built with FleetCheck. By integrating FORS FMS Professional, FleetCheck Technician, LicenceAssured, and VDO Fleet, they’ve created a genuinely complete picture of their fleet – all visible from one login.
The FleetCheck Driver app sits at one end. Drivers complete a digital vehicle check, and within two minutes Kieran has received it, with all the defects logged and ready to action. Documents can be sent and acknowledged through the same app, with a full timestamped history of who’s read what and when. At the other end, the FleetCheck Technician app keeps the workshop connected to the same system, so nothing gets lost in translation between the driver flagging an issue and the fitter resolving it.
And for Keiran, who’s frequently out of the office, having access from his laptop wherever he is means nothing gets missed.
It's the connectivity of it all – everything just flows. Years ago, the fitters had their own office in the garage where all the truck files were kept. As the transport manager, I was constantly back and forward. Now Ben completes an inspection on his tablet and two minutes later I've got it – already allocated to the truck, defects, rectifications and all. I can just go through what he's done.
The Impact
Time savings, seamless audits, and total confidence
Time well saved
FleetCheck has saved Kieran an estimated 2 hours per week on defect sheet processing alone. His fitters save a further 2 hours a week, no longer handwriting PMI sheets with everything digitally logged.
Effortless compliance audits
FORS and CLOCS audits, which once required significant manual preparation, are now straightforward, with evidence easily accessible directly within FleetCheck – so they’re “done and dusted in a couple of minutes”.
Confidence in due diligence
With a green DVSA score and complete visibility over their compliance records, J O’Shea & Sons can demonstrate their due diligence to authorities like the DVSA with total confidence.

It’s 100% paid for itself. The man hours between me and fitters – there’s the money saved. And it’s made my life 10x easier.
